Home Furniture Favorites: Joss & Main

January 17, 2016

Happy Sunday! As I've been searching around for pieces for my new office area, I came across Joss & Main which I love but I couldn't get enough of their newest categories (and their prices!). So I put together some of my favorite furniture and decor items all under $200 to share with you. If you're not familiar with Joss & Main,  their other family brands you may know are Wayfair, All Modern, Dwell Studio and Birch Lane. Which piece is your favorite? I have to say I'm a sucker for marble and brass so I'm really loving their Bubble Task Lamp :)

Falling for Metallics

November 4, 2014

Happy November! It's that time of year to take out your fall decorations  -- deep red and burnt orange hues -- or you can incorporate metallics into your existing decor that will last until after the new year. Metallics are always an eye-catcher and they can be especially appropriate when decorating and entertaining for the fall and winter holidays -- they create a warm, inviting and sophisticated look. Here are some of my favorite metallic items -- from decorative accents to dinnerware -- that will transform your home just in time for Thanksgiving!

1.
You can't go wrong with some brass candle
holders. These would look great as part of your
dining room table centerpiece or on your mantle.

Denby Candleholders / Crate & Barrel

2.
These hurricanes have beautiful detailing and will
also look great as your table centerpiece or as decor
on your mantle.

Frosted Deco Mercury Hurricanes / west elm

3.
Right now west elm has some gorgeous metallic beaded
pillows in cool and warm colors that will fit with other
holiday decor you may have. You can purchase the cover
separate so you can switch up the look of your pillows
whenever you want.

Metallic Sequin Pillows / west elm

4.
If you're looking for a simple yet festive table runner this fall then
this metallic stripe runner is it. It has a touch of silver -- picture
this paired with those west elm hurricanes above as a centerpiece.
Can't say I'm not into it, can you?

5.
This is one of many metallic frames Zara Home has that I'm
falling in love with. Obviously these are great year round if you
like this sophisticated glam look. Otherwise, these are perfect
to replace your current frames with during the holidays to
have a more festive look without having to get too many
extra decorations.

Resin and Mirrored Frame / Zara Home

6.
I love these trays! They are so versatile and can be used
on a coffee table, ottoman, dining table, entryway, or even a
bar cart when put on a stand. This particular finish, antiqued silver,
looks great with other metallic items and is great for holidays and
entertaining. Currently tabletop and trays are 20% off at west elm.

Large Rectangle Lacquer Tray / west elm

7.
This dinnerware set looks amazing when paired with gold
flatware (like pictured). You could also switch up your dinnerware
and do this ikat metallic dinner plate with a white salad plate or
vise versa -- the options are endless. Incorporating even just
one item from this set will bring a touch of the
holidays to your tabletop.

Palette Dinnerware Set - Gold and Silver / west elm

8.
This cake stand is just so cute. You don't have to only serve
cake on this either!

Polka Dot Cake Stand - Gold and Silver / C Wonder

9.
This glassware just makes sense for the holidays.  The
gold rim on these glasses would look great with the Palette
Dinnerware Set in Gold/Silver!

Metallic Rimmed Glassware - Gold / west elm

10.
Herringbone pattern + metallic = yes, please. This beautiful
combo happens to be sold on these placements at Target
and adds an instant holiday look to your dining table.

If you're looking for some new holiday decor and items for entertaining then these metallic finds will do the trick! Not only for the fall but will last through the holiday season. Who wouldn't like that?

A Touch of Gold: Using Gold in Interior Design

September 10, 2014

I've been seeing a lot of designs lately with a touch of gold leaving a space looking stylish, fresh and beautiful. I've always loved this look but it's something I've been seeing much more recently. I love all white spaces mixed with a little gold or antiqued brass - it really makes so much of a difference and adds interest to a room. It can be mixed with eclectic, chic, modern or any other design style you may love - it can just work. It doesn't have to be as feminine as you may think either - it can be just as gender neutral. Here are some pictures I found on pinterest that exemplify this exceptional style.

Here the use of black, white and gold pillows adds a collection
of patterns & textures to this living area.

I'm absolutely in love with this kitchen from top to bottom.
There's not a lot of warm tones other than the dark hardwood
so the use of brass knobs and copper tins on the counter is just
the right touch.

These gold pendants pull the whole look of this kitchen together. Stunning.

A sophisicated yet fun dining space with touches of gold with
the rod and artwork. Gold, white & navy are an amazing combo in
design, as you can tell.

Absolutely love the rustic counters and wall mixed with gold & metal.
The apron sink is the cherry on top.

Pretty much loving everything about this bedroom. From the wallpaper
to the hanging pendant - it's so eclectic & unique.

An overall white space looks exceptionally put-together with
some gold accents - don't ya think?

I know, all these pictures are making you fall in love, right?
I'm loving these spaces and as you can see it only takes a lamp, a lighting
fixture, pillows, knobs, or a rod in a metallic gold to create such a look - no need to
go crazy with it. Which space do you like the most? Happy gold decorating!

Pantone Color of the Year 2014: Radiant Orchid

January 3, 2014

Looking back on 2013, one color that truly stood out to me was Emerald Green which is why that was selected as Pantone color of the year 2013. As for 2014, Radiant Orchid is the newly selected color of the year and after looking at a few of the pictures in this post you will know exactly why. It's a color that is fun, chic and sophisticated all in one. I find that gold, red and turquoise go really well with this color which you will see in some of these photos. Used the right way either as the dominant color in a space or as an accent color - Radiant Orchid looks beautiful as the color of the year for 2014.

This space has a lot going on - grasscloth wallpaper, ikat, greek key, stripes and quatrefoil - yet seems to all come together very simply and cohesively. I love the mix of trendy patterns and adding the red sofa is a great way to switch up the colors.

A great way to make a bookshelf feel custom is to paint it with a splash of color - this shade of radiant orchid is painted in what looks like a high gloss paint which makes it stand out that much more (in a good way of course).

I love the way gold and radiant orchid look paired together - and specifically in this space I am loving the gold and white chevron pillows against that headboard.

Here the quiet patterns of radiant orchid and white look great paired with metallic features as well. With the sophisticated patterns, tufted headboard, metallic accents and transparent nightstands, this bedroom looks nothing short of elegant.

This space uses radiant orchid as the dominant color with accents of both red and gold to create a fun and inviting bedroom perfect for teens or guests.

In this neutral space, radiant orchid is used as a soft accent color by adding a throw blanket to the space. A plus in this living area is that it looks just as good with or without the throw and the homeowners can change the accent color simply by changing the color of the throw and/or accent pillows.

I love this foyer space - it looks amazing just the way it is but yet again you can change the accent color in this space simply by interchanging those items with another color (such as the Pantone color of the year 2015 when the time comes!)

Last but not least, you can't go wrong with ikat print and this deeper hue of radiant orchid looks amazing against the black chair frame, black and white rug and black border mirror.

Those were just a few of my favorite spaces with the color of the year 2014. I never was into much purple in a space but the different hues of this color paired with gold, red, turquoise or black and white looks too good to pass up. If you didn't know about this years color of the year - now you know! & I hope that this inspires you to add a little radiant orchid into your life.
