AD Design Show 2017

Hey everyone! This post is overdue, but I did not forget about it. I want to share with you some highlights from the Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC last week. Some of my favorites included the Prism Collection by The Principals because well, who doesn't love gorgeous greenery, Tucker Robbins one-of-a-kind woven and hand carved pieces, and Wud Furniture's gotham collection handmade in Brooklyn. There is SO much more, more than I even was able to take photos of but I hope this inspires you to dive deeper into the design world because there is much to be inspired by. Do you have a favorite?

Happy Sunday

March 12, 2017

Happy Sunday everyone! Mine consisted of getting over a cold and headache but I am feeling better and ready to start my week. My swatches from MotifPillows on Etsy came the other day and I finally placed my order! I ordered two of these handmade shibori inspired pillows for our bedroom and another swatch to be delivered. You may be thinking, "What the heck is shibori and who puts that much thought into just pillows??" Well to answer part one, shibori is a type of Japanese handmade dying technique dating back to the 8th century so each pillow made with this technique is a meticulous one-of-a-kind piece. To answer part two, me! and I am not the only one. Pillows are just one simple way to make a huge impact and quick change to a space which is why I love pillows and all textiles so much. I don't mind spending a little more for a handmade pillow and supporting small businesses! Excited for my new pillows to come in... once I can find a new rug for our living room, I'll be looking into new pillows in that space, too. Oh, and here's a sneak peak of my newest painting's palette I recently finished :) Stay tuned for the next post on my new piece!

Apartment Revamp 3.0

March 11, 2017

Happy weekend everyone! I am still on the hunt for new pieces for our space without breaking the bank. I definitely am on a budget but willing to spend a little more if we really find something that works best for us (now I know how most of my own client's feel). Function for us is key - it has to be 60-80" max length, around 25" high and have some type of open storage or option for it for sensors (like sliding doors that expose shelving, etc). I've put together a handful of options in the running one of them (#6) not having an option for open storage however it does have doors and pull down drawers on the side. It's also important that it's mostly wood (I'm open to reclaimed or a smooth mid-century style wood). Since our coffee table is marble top with a bronze metal frame, this helps to balance the finishes in our space. Which piece is your favorite??

1 / how-down media console / one kings lane
2 / staggered wood media console / west elm
3 / russian reclaimed oak media console / rh
4 / angelo media console / lulu & georgia
5 / lewis media console / gingko furniture
6 / reclaimed wood + lacquer media console / west elm

New Obsession: MotifPillows

March 5, 2017

I have to say I love a good pillow situation. What I love the most is that pillows are so versatile, and can change the look of a space entirely. I am in the middle of doing some apartment refreshing so switching up my pillows is definitely on my list. I consistently browse stores online and in person (when I can) and lately have been drawn the most to pillows on Serena & Lily and Lulu & Georgia. Every now and then I browse Etsy for some unique, handmade options. I came across Motif Pillows and I looove the color palettes and how many options they have. They also use a variety of designer fabrics and are all handmade. What's also great is that you can order swatches first before ordering which is what I did. I plan on getting new ones for our bedroom and living room. Stay tuned to see which ones I went with! Below are some of my faves - check out their Etsy shop for more!

Dream Bedroom Mood Board

March 1, 2017

Hi there! If you have read any of my recent posts, you know I'm currently in the process of finding new pieces to refresh our apartment. So far, we were able to swap out our coffee table with something that fits our space better and is more functional for us. Finding a rug and media console that also fits our needs and wants is actually much harder than expected - especially since my job is interior designing! Go figure. In the meantime, I came across some mood boards for my dream apartment that I created a few months ago if I really was going to start from scratch and stay within some budget. I wanted to share my dream bedroom because, well, I just love it and thought if I could inspire others with this post than it's worth sharing! I would definitely add additional pieces like an accent chair with a side table, leaner mirror, dresser, etc but this would be the overall look I would go off of that I just love. See below for all the sources! Enjoy :)

Bed / Slub Velvet Edlyn Bed / Anthropologie
Nightstands / Alexa Nightstand / West Elm
Rug / Elo Rug - Ivory / RH
Lamps / Colton Table Lamp / RH Baby + Child
Stools / Cooper Leather Stools / Serena + Lily
Art / Maria V Cano - Malibu / RH
Pillows / Black Hawthorne Stripe Pillow / Caitlyn Wilson Textiles
Lumbar Pillow / Elizbeita Pillow - Violet / Lulu + Georgia
