Dream Bedroom Mood Board

Hi there! If you have read any of my recent posts, you know I'm currently in the process of finding new pieces to refresh our apartment. So far, we were able to swap out our coffee table with something that fits our space better and is more functional for us. Finding a rug and media console that also fits our needs and wants is actually much harder than expected - especially since my job is interior designing! Go figure. In the meantime, I came across some mood boards for my dream apartment that I created a few months ago if I really was going to start from scratch and stay within some budget. I wanted to share my dream bedroom because, well, I just love it and thought if I could inspire others with this post than it's worth sharing! I would definitely add additional pieces like an accent chair with a side table, leaner mirror, dresser, etc but this would be the overall look I would go off of that I just love. Apartment Revamp 2.0

I've decided to start purchasing things for our new place because there are a list of items I've been wanting to replace for quite some time. If you haven't checked out my first post about our apartment revamp..check it out here! I decided to focus on our living room first and if I see things along the way for other spaces then so be it :) For our living room I would love to swap our our rug and media console first. I would like a light gray and cream rug that has some variation in it for a monochromatic look with our sofa. Our sofa, although I would replace, is staying since it's rather new and my boyfriend loves it. We got that from Raymour & Flanigan when we needed a new sofa for when we moved in and they delivered it within a few days! It's gray and comfy so it works for now. I'd love to change our coffee table to something that is not wood since we have a lot of wood already. Currently we have a bone inlay coffee table from west elm that I love but it's too small. I think marble, although porous, will do the trick. We just have to be a bit careful with it but we already are with the one we have. For our media console, I would like something wood again and something that looks somewhat found. It has to have some open storage and long enough to fit our speaker on top. Something solid wood with a mid-century feel would work best with the rest of our apartment. As for pillows and decor, those are a quick fix and will complete the overall look. Create the Look: Becki Owens

If I said I was a fan of Becki Owens, that would even be an understatement. I'm in love with her elevated, clean and curated designs. I'm constantly inspired by her team's work and go to her blog and instagram for inspiration often. Check out her blog here! I came across one of her many spaces designed as a hangout space for teens. I feel like it can also be a space for adults because it is just as much sophisticated as it is fun. I fell in love with it and decided to come up with a similar look keeping the overall modern, bohemian aesthetic the same. I hope you love it just as much as I do!

Target Living Room Designs

I have received requests for creating designs using a lower price point and I instantly thought of Target because of the amazing assortment they have at many different price points. Not to mention one of my favorite designers, Emily Henderson, is one of Target's home stylist experts so naturally I had no problem creating a post like this. I created two full living spaces - one with a more transitional look and the other more mid-century modern and those are just two of the many different design aesthetics you can choose at Target. The first design came to under $4,000 and would be a bit over $4,000 if you decided to add an additional end table, light and chair. The second design came to under $2,500 and would be just around $3,000 if you decided to add an additional end table, light and chair. Both are steals for a full living space design :)  Enjoy !

2017 Pantone Color of the Year: Greenery

This year the Pantone color, Greenery, is celebrated in designs and decor of various styles around the world. If you're not familiar with the color of the year here is a little info. Each year The Pantone Color Institute announces a symbolic color selection; a color snapshot of what is seen taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and attitude (Pantone.com). 

The Pantone Color Institute has put together a collection of palettes that incorporates Greenery in a sophisticated way that relates to what all of us around the world see in nature (can see all palettes here). I have since seen Greenery in many different designs that range from modern to eclectic to  traditional. I usually gravitate towards more of an emerald green, but I put together a mood board using Greenery as an accent below that displays a more mid-century aesthetic using one of my favorite chosen palettes by Pantone; Deep Rooted. Create the Look: Studio McGee's Office Retreat

Hi everyone! I am starting a new theme of posts every week dedicated to creating looks by some of my favorite designers. I browse social media and blogs often and get inspired continuously. It's always refreshing to check out others work and get ideas. One that I particularly love is Studio McGee. Shea McGee and her husband, Syd, started their design adventure together after realizing that design was their passion. I am constantly inspired by their work and find myself wondering where they find all of the beautiful items they include in their designs which lead me to this post. I absolutely love this office design below - it is so open and light but at the same time bold and curated. I find myself gravitating towards designs like these where you will find minimal pieces paired with natural, and organic elements and it never hurts when there is stunning art involved. Fall 2016

Happy fall! I am absolutely loving the new fall collections some of my favorite stores are introducing this year! Even though they can be very different, I feel like they all have a stylish comfort about them. There is something so simple about these pieces, yet still elevated and intriguing. I'm especially drawn to all of the natural materials, textures, and tone-on-tone color palettes. A Not-So-Teen RH Teen Bedroom

I have to say I've had my eye on some (many) pieces from the RH Teen assortment for quite some time now. Working for Restoration Hardware, I get to help create dream spaces for clients and their homes. I don't include RH Teen as often as I could for a few reasons - we don't showcase it in our gallery, many of my clients are looking for our core brand or RH Modern pieces for their home, and clients just don't know about it. When I do introduce the line to clients, they are blown away because there are so many amazing pieces that are offered that aren't only for teens. The line is meant to be sophisticated and transitional for the younger generations - something they can love now and love later. Not to mention, many of these pieces are at a lower price point than RH main brand. I've put together a bedroom (because...why not?) that I would happily live in myself. RH is known more for their effortless way to use symmetry to create balance. For me, I like to create eclectic spaces that are balanced, not symmetrical, with a play on different textures and materials. I'd say this bedroom does just that. What do you think? :)

Dream Outdoor Oasis

Okay -- summer is right around the corner people! I mean, for me it's pretty much been summer since February living in SoCal (sorry my east coast loves). If you don't know already, I currently reside in 800 square feet of space in our 1 bedroom apartment in Orange County and that's including our patio. So, you can't blame me for coming up with my dream outdoor oasis, right? Plus, working at west elm and being around all the summer floorset has me dreaming every day at work. I'm seriously in love with it all. I know I chose many neutrals and not a lot of bold colors but that's nothing you couldn't switch up with some decor. I just love the relaxed vibe that these pieces have when put together.  The John Vogel teak loungers are probably my must have piece of them all! Which part is your favorite??

Spring is Here!: West Elm Spring Mood Board

Happy Spring! Even though in SoCal the weather 90% of the time feels like spring or summer, I know my fellow NYer's back at home are enjoying the fact that winter is officially over! As some of you may know I work at west elm and as a home stylist there I have my own clients and in some cases I get to create really fun mood boards for them featuring our product whether it's all west elm or incorporating west elm with their existing furniture/decor. There are SO many new items coming in for summer so I thought of creating a mood board that featured some of these items. I'm just loving all the coral hues mixed with neutrals and brass -- it reminded me of a spring/summer color palette so I thought it was a perfect day to share :) I'm especially in love with the new Steven Alan summer line at west elm. The pillows in his collection that I incorporated into this design also come in a Blue Lagoon color palette that is equally worth drooling over. Not to mention this chenille/wool blend rug is amazing -- it's a certified fair trade rug which means not only is it handcrafted but it was also made in a safe working environment for the artisans AND gives back to the community where it was made with each fair trade purchase. Such a worth while purchase, don't ya think? I hope you all enjoy this design as much as I did putting it together. I already love it and it doesn't even have the finishing touches OR an owner -- anyone want to volunteer? ;)

My Dream Home: Bedroom

Seriously, there are WAY too many items I love that I would happily have in my dream home but I can't have it all. In my previous post I put together my dream dining room look with a link to all items -- one of my favorite artists of mine that I featured in that post saw it and featured me on her instagram so go check it out @rachelreinertstudio! I am going to do the same for you here but this time you will get to see my dream bedroom. I could create this look now but my boyfriend and I are currently renting so we can't do much. We're waiting for our first real place of our own where we can invest in what we really want (he actually approved about 90% of what I picked out here -- i'll take it!). Some items are on the pricey side but a girl can dream! I'm a DIYer so I'm pretty sure if I can't find it less expensive, I can do what I can to create a similar look. So for this space, I continued the design style of my other rooms -- boho, chic, modern, eclectic. I really love mixing styles and playing with patterns -- it makes it that much more you. And don't be fooled because you can totally make it work. I currently have a navy and white theme going on in my bedroom but I just don't know what it is about turquoise that just gets me every time. Oranges/reds are complimentary so I wanted to use touches of that as well with accents of black and white and antiqued brass. The side table pictured could be used as the nightstand or as a side table for the chair. If storage was needed I would add a nightstand that had a drawer or shelf. Either way it WILL have this prism brass pendant over it. Ahhh, I'm in love...

I have sold that waterfall painting but I'm dying to paint a huge version of it. There are many natural elements in this space -- reclaimed wood, linen, seaglass, the color scheme, etc. I wanted a piece of art that represented that and even added another natural element in itself, so choosing my waterfall piece just fit. I picture a white Belgium linen duvet cover (the one from west elm) on the bed with matching euro shams. I'm obsessed with how soft they are -- totally worth the price. Adding white linen curtains is another way of adding a natural element with a super clean feel. Oh, one more thing! This mood board does not give justice to just how beautiful the detail on this mirror is. Definitely check out the link to see the full image -- it's worth it. My Dream Home: Living Room

It's been a while since I've created a mood board for the fun of it so when I started to find a ton of items on my favorite sites I figured I had to pull some of these items together. I've been in love with the Hamilton Sofa from west elm since they came out with it last summer -- the tan, aniline leather is gorgeous and soooo soft -- you really have to go check it out if there's a west elm store by you. I've been dying to get my hands on some pillows from Lulu & Georgia -- if you haven't seen their selection of textiles you need to do that. right. now. Okay, maybe after reading this post. I'm also a sucker for navy, turquoise and anything black and white so that led me to create the color scheme you're about to see. My heart also aches for items made of natural materials such as marble, reclaimed wood, jute, rattan...as you can see. So I decided to create a living space that just screams me. There it is. Did you fall in love with any of these items like I did? There were too many online to choose from so next up I'll be putting together my dream dining room. I didn't follow a budget when picking these items -- I normally wouldn't spend $400 on a wall sconce but it's all about the look. Depending on what else is going on in your space I really do believe it's worth splurging on an item or two that you love and then be frugal with the rest in order to stay on budget. Like the wall art in this space -- you can definitely DIY and get the same look. You really should love everything you have in your home so to me it's totally worth it to mix the high and the DIY (that's a pretty clever saying, actually). Nautical Accents for your Home

If you're like me than you have a soft spot for anything nautical. Especially since spring is here and summer is around the corner, incorporating a few nautical pieces may be just what your home needs. Whether you are looking for some new items for your beach house or your beach-inspired space up in the mountains, these nautical accent pieces are some great finds for any space. All of these items would work with most of your existing decor such as a fun doormat and some burlap throw pillows which are a perfect way to gradually add some nautical fun into your home without going overboard (no pun intended) and will look great year-round, too. Enjoy!

While searching the internet for inspiring home decor like I usually do, I couldn't help but notice all the fabulous options for accent tables & the best part is they are all reasonably priced at under $100! That's when it struck me to share some of my favorite finds.
