Color Crush: Blush

January 27, 2017

Blush is a color that is making a big statement in the design and fashion world and I am not complaining one bit. You may have seen this color around quite a bit lately and it's only becoming more popular - on furniture, decorative items, art, textiles, and the list goes on. Here is a grouping of items I have sourced for you and some inspiration found on Pinterest that incorporates this beautiful, soft, lush hue including a paint palette that I am obsessing over. Which blush inspiration is your favorite??

1 / Sulb Velvet Bixby Chair / Anthropologie
2 / Sunrise Wall Hanging / Anthropologie
3 / Pfeiffer Tall Upholstered Bed / RH Baby & Child
4 / Rose Quartz Bookends / ZGallerie
5 / Slub Velvet Edlyn Sectional / Anthropologie
6 / Parallels Pillow / Lulu & Georgia

Falling for Throws

September 20, 2015

If you're anything like me, you love when the leaves start changing color, PSL's (pumpkin spiced lattes) come back at Starbucks, and it gets a bit cooler so you snuggle up on the sofa with your favorite throw. The first day of fall is just a few days away so I came up with a list of my top 5 favorite throws perfect for fall -- different styles and textures. I'm in search of a new one, too, so I may be seeing one of these in my home soon!

1 // 404 locust slidell throw // $69 // urban outfitters

2 // zuri throw - teal // $51.60 // lulu & georgia

3 // horizontal double ribbed throw // $79 // west elm

// 5-lb chenille solid throw // $79 // restoration hardware

5 // faux sheepskin throw // $99 // pottery barn

My sofa is a gray, area rug is a neutral pattern with a navy/teal color, and the pillows on the sofa are cream with a brass/gold print on two, so I'm thinking the teal one from Lulu and Georgia will be a nice way to tie in the blue. However, I'm torn because the faux sheepskin one from Pottery Barn screams "snuggle and watch movies with me". There's no harm in getting more than one, right? Options are good :)

June Art Event Sat 6/6

June 3, 2015

Happy June! Oh boy, it's been a while. I've been busy working and painting not only a large custom piece I am working on but a handful of smaller ones for my upcoming event! As some of you may know, I have an Etsy shop called Lauren Maiorana Art (link on main page). Although I've been painting for quite some time and have sold many of my paintings, I am so excited that I recently had my first Etsy sale. I revamped my Etsy shop and re-listed some older paintings and added new ones and I'm so happy I did. Not only did I get my first sale but I also was reached out to by the NOIR Event Coordinator to participate in a local art/music/fashion event this upcoming Saturday. The event is THIS Saturday 6/6 from 7:30-10 pm at Sutra Nightclub in Costa Mesa and after there will be a DJ contest (which is normally $20 to get in). If you're local, come support me and other talented artists! Tickets are only $5 at the door, you just tell the doorman who you are there to see and then they tally it all up. Here are some photos of my paintings that you can expect to see!

There's some sneak peeks for ya. To sum it all up, if you don't have plans this Saturday
come by Sutra Nightclub in Costa Mesa frm 7:30-10 (DJ after the event) and support
me and other local artists and makers. Really hope to see you there. SO excited :)

Color of the Week: Sand

February 17, 2014

One of Pantones Spring 2014 colors, Sand, is my color of the week this week. Why? Well, what other neutral can you think of that can go with pretty much anything or look amazing on its own? I say why not keep this as color of the week...every week? It is the perfect color to create a serene, classy look but can also look just as fierce and chic. Here is a mood board I created with some items that I think are worth checking out for this coming spring...and for the rest of the year ;)

1 / Mykonos Throw Pillow / ZGallerie
2 / Diamond Jute Rug / Serena and Lily
3 / Soho Tufted Corner Sectional in Sand Belgian Linen  / Restoration Hardware
4 / Sand Tropez / Essie
5 / Madison Christie Carryall in Saffiano Leather / Coach

Greek Key: Trendy Yet Timeless

February 15, 2014

Greek key has been around but it has never looked so chic. Technically it has two meanings - A decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif and the symbol of eternal love, life and friendship. The traditional greek key motif may vary from item to item but once you see it, it will stand out to you. Greek key looks fabulous on pretty much anything you can think of when it comes to your home - bedding, curtains, accent pillows, furniture, shower curtains and even wastebaskets...yes, really! Here are some of my favorite greek key items that you can currently find online. Even though this is a trendy pattern, when done the right way in your home you can create a chic yet timeless look. Enjoy!!

I'm loving this light blue throw blanket & it's super soft, too.

A little eye candy on a rather simple looking night stand.

Gold legs with a navy laquer tray top PLUS greek key - score!
(WorldsAway.com)

These used to be the two colors in my teen bedroom growing up - still loving this color duo!

A luxurious silk and wool area rug - would look beautiful in any room in your home.
(LaylaGrace.com)

I can picture this mirror as a beautiful center piece above a console in an entry way but is a quite versatile piece.

And of course a beautiful greek key waste basket..told ya so ;)

Homegoods Happy Finds

February 14, 2014

Homegoods seriously has everything you could need in your home when it comes to home decor. I took a trip to Homegoods yesterday to hopefully find some goodies for a DIY project for my valentine (I'll post more on that soon so I won't spoil the surprise!). While browsing the store I came across some items that stood out to me because, well, they were just so me. Some were this gorgeous hemlock color (which is one of the colors in Pantones Spring 2014 color forecast) so I thought I would share my happy finds with you. Do you have any Homegoods items in your home that make you happy??

This lamp has a gloss finish. The color and shape looks like a lamp you could find from Bungalow 5.

I love, love, LOVE this knit pouf. It's white and gray so will match about any color scheme and look perfect in your living space. I picture one or two under a glass coffee table so they can be stored and then pulled out for seating when needed.

I always see mirror trays like this online especially on LaylaGrace.com which are a pretty penny but this one is only $24.99!

These hemlock and white patterned pillows are only $24.99 for the two! Great for indoor or outdoor use.

I love the look of natural materials and this hand carved basket is perfect. There were also stools and trays.

What girl doesn't like a pretty jewelry box?? This one is a pretty cream/gold pattern covered in acrylic glass.

I'm such a fan of quatrefoil and have seen lamps just like this in Arteriors for a good chunk of money. This one is only $49.99!

For $12.99 this coral decor is perfect for a coastal look! The base is a beautiful hemlock acrylic glass. This would look great displayed on your coffee table or bookshelf.

I wish I got the price on this piece but if I can recall it was no more than $100! Such a cute little garden stool you can use outside or as an accent table/nightstand in your home.

I could spend hours in Homegoods and come out with a bunch of things I probably didn't even need but it would all be worth it! Don't ya think? :)

Color of the Week: Dazzling Blue

February 12, 2014

This week I chose Dazzling Blue as color of the week because of how bold and stylish this color can be. As you can see in the mood board I created, not only does this color look fabulous in fashion but also in home decor as well. This color looks amazing on its own, paired with black or white, and in patterns. You can also make your space feel as masculine and feminine as you like using a splash (or two) of dazzling blue. Enjoy!

Color of the Week: Celosia Orange

January 31, 2014

Since Pantone's color forecast for this springs collection is quite fantastic, I decided to start doing a Color of the Week, each week a different color from this fabulous forecast. Obviously, radiant orchid (Pantone color of the year) is included which I have done previous posts on. The great thing for me is that I LOVE color but love accessorizing with bold colors and prints. This gives all of us an opportunity to chose a bold color to accessorize with and know that you are being stylish and trendy at the same time. And if you choose pieces that are interchangeable - you can change the mood of your room just by switching up accent pieces. These colors that are chosen will be the "it" colors in fashion, textiles and interior design this spring. Enjoy!!

Crystal Clear

January 27, 2014

Lucite furniture has been around since the late 1960's and early 1970's. It has become a reoccurring trend that, until now, has never looked so chic. Hm, what is lucite you ask? Lucite is a solid transparent plastic made from polymethyl methacrylate or also known as acrylic glass. I'm sure you've heard of Plexiglas which is the made from the same material. It is an alternative to glass being that it is clear, lightweight and shatter-resistant which makes it perfect to use in your home.

Here are some of my favorite lucite pieces:

LexMod Louis Ghost Chair found on Amazon. This style lucite chair is a popular piece used in interior design - I especially love this chair paired with a white lacquer parsons desk :)

Peekaboo clear nesting tables which can be found at CB2.com - stylish, functional & reasonably priced.

Another great find at CB2.

The Tobias chair at Ikea offers this piece perfect in a dining space or as a desk chair. Because I love mixing design styles, I picture this chair at a wooden, rustic dining table.

This is such a unique coffee table - I love the rustic wood paired with lucite legs which gives the illusion of floating wood. This piece can be found at Rotsen.com.

This console on LaylaGrace.com would look stunning in an entryway or behind a sofa.

In my opinion there is much to love when it comes to clear furniture - by itself, paired with rustic pieces, colorful decor or its ability to effortlessly blend in with virtually any design style.

If you haven't already, hopefully this will inspire you to incorporate this reoccurring trend into your home :) Until next time!
