Apartment Revamp 2.0

February 21, 2017

I've decided to start purchasing things for our new place because there are a list of items I've been wanting to replace for quite some time. If you haven't checked out my first post about our apartment revamp..check it out here! I decided to focus on our living room first and if I see things along the way for other spaces then so be it :) For our living room I would love to swap our our rug and media console first. I would like a light gray and cream rug that has some variation in it for a monochromatic look with our sofa. Our sofa, although I would replace, is staying since it's rather new and my boyfriend loves it. We got that from Raymour & Flanigan when we needed a new sofa for when we moved in and they delivered it within a few days! It's gray and comfy so it works for now. I'd love to change our coffee table to something that is not wood since we have a lot of wood already. Currently we have a bone inlay coffee table from west elm that I love but it's too small. I think marble, although porous, will do the trick. We just have to be a bit careful with it but we already are with the one we have. For our media console, I would like something wood again and something that looks somewhat found. It has to have some open storage and long enough to fit our speaker on top. Something solid wood with a mid-century feel would work best with the rest of our apartment. As for pillows and decor, those are a quick fix and will complete the overall look. Here are my ideas so far for this space!

Box Frame Marble and Bronze Coffee Table / West Elm (currently on a great sale!)
Safavieh Restoration Vintage Rug / Target
Angelo Media Console / Lulu & Georgia
Pendant Floor Lamp / Target
Mid Century Planter / West Elm

Apartment Revamp 1.0

February 16, 2017

Finally! It's about time I start to focus on our own space and invest in pieces we plan on keeping for the long run. We do live in a rental but it is rather large and I've been dying to get my hands on some new pieces to create a space I really love...my boyfriend on the other hand could really care less ;) but he always loves the end result. Main focus would be:

Foyer
- new 4x6' rug that's great for traffic and hiding dirt
- some new decor to freshen up our built in shelves
- new knobs for console to create found look

Kitchen
- new art for wall
- possibly some type of storage shelving for the empty wall next to our table

Living Room
- new 8x10' rug, something definitely soft and durable since now living with a flat weave I am not loving how rough it can be
- media console, has to be open (this is where my boyfriends opinion really comes into play)
- something to fill up empty wall and corner left of media
- definitely new coffee table, ours has been too small for our space even though we love it
- new throw pillows mixed in with some of our current ones

Bedroom
- leaner mirror
- more art or larger piece of art to feel more proportionate over bed, I may even create this myself
- some new bedding
- ottoman/chair for empty corner next to bed

Stay tuned on pieces I am peeking at for each space on my upcoming posts!

Best of Layered Rugs

February 15, 2017

I can't get enough of a good layered rug situation so I decided to gather a few of my favorites from Pinterest and share them with you. I love the depth and personality that it can give to a space and it's not just limited to one room in your home!

This duo of jute/sisal and a vintage rug is great for high traffic areas like an entry, hallway or mudroom.

You can create different moments when layering rugs.

Layering with neutral organic textures like above creates depth and boldness but can still have an overall clean look.

Moroccan or vintage rug..can't decide? Layer with both and choose a sofa or chair that pulls out one of the beautiful hues in your rug! (PS: Glass coffee tables are great when you're looking to really showcase such beautiful textiles and creates an open feel)

Pelts are always great for layering!

Another beautiful moment created by a natural and vintage rug duo.

If you found a rug that you love and want to use in your space but may be just too small for the space you'd like to put it in, layering rugs is the perfect solution like in this dining space above.

Same type of situation in this space like above. Loving how much depth a vintage rug can have in a space and pick up many different hues throughout a room.

Layer a vintage rug over a vintage rug? Why not. Choose two different scales of patterns like above and you can't go wrong. This especially works best when the rest of the space is more simple leaving the rugs to really feel like the focal point.

And I'll end with this bedroom because...the rugs..the light fixture..the ceiling..the windows..the natural light..you get it right? Hope you enjoyed and learned a little, too. Until next time...

Create the Look: Becki Owens

February 4, 2017

If I said I was a fan of Becki Owens, that would even be an understatement. I'm in love with her elevated, clean and curated designs. I'm constantly inspired by her team's work and go to her blog and instagram for inspiration often. Check out her blog here! I came across one of her many spaces designed as a hangout space for teens. I feel like it can also be a space for adults because it is just as much sophisticated as it is fun. I fell in love with it and decided to come up with a similar look keeping the overall modern, bohemian aesthetic the same. I hope you love it just as much as I do!

Target Living Room Designs

February 2, 2017

I have received requests for creating designs using a lower price point and I instantly thought of Target because of the amazing assortment they have at many different price points. Not to mention one of my favorite designers, Emily Henderson, is one of Target's home stylist experts so naturally I had no problem creating a post like this. I created two full living spaces - one with a more transitional look and the other more mid-century modern and those are just two of the many different design aesthetics you can choose at Target. The first design came to under $4,000 and would be a bit over $4,000 if you decided to add an additional end table, light and chair. The second design came to under $2,500 and would be just around $3,000 if you decided to add an additional end table, light and chair. Both are steals for a full living space design :)  Enjoy !
