Deciding a Color Scheme: 60-30-10 Rule

June 2, 2013

When deciding a color scheme in your space, it's important to consider the 60-30-10 rule. It helps you break down the colors in your space, allowing it all to flow together. The rule is simple:

Your space should be:

60% dominant color
30% secondary color
10% accent color

In other words, your space should be this:

60% of the room should be your wall color
30% should be upholstery and furniture
10% should be decor such as pillows and other accent pieces

If you follow this rule your space should look just like a designers portfolio!
